Bio

JTF is a Jewish scribe, scholar, and educator. She presently has seven Torah scrolls to her credit, as well as an assortment of the other sacred scrolls. She has an MA in Jewish Studies from McGill, for which she wrote a history of the material culture of tefillin, and a PhD in medieval Torah scrolls from the École Pratique des Hautes Études. She is notorious for having created Tefillin Barbie, who has been featured in several quite serious publications describing twenty-first century Judaism. She has trained a number of Torah scribes in various parts of the world to write Torah scrolls of their own, and she is getting very good at long-distance teaching. She lives in the UK with her partner and daughter, where she teaches cheder and tries to avoid serving on committees.
